It’s no secret that the love for horses runs deep in the Carroll family. Daughter of David Carroll—a current assistant to Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse—Aisling spent quite a bit of time as a kid at the track with her father, who once ran his own operation at Churchill Downs.
After spending much of her early years on the backside receiving pony rides from her mom and dad, it wasn’t long before Aisling began riding lessons and eventually got her own horse at age 10. As Aisling got older and progressed in her riding, she opted for eventing instead of galloping at the track. When she turned 16, she started her first working student position with 5* eventer Jan Bynny. Aisling also spent time working and learning from Sara Kozumpilk, Brian Murphy, Richard Picken, Joiane Morris and her most recent long-term employer Phillip Dutton at True Prospect Farm in Pennsylvania.
“I was fortunate to start working with Jan at an early point in my career thus far because she really showed that, to do it well, everything from horses to the barn to how blankets were folded [should be done at] the highest standard and level of meticulousness,” said Aisling. “It opened my eyes to the level of work it takes to be a full-time event rider at that level, but I owe a lot of things I’ve learned thus far to my early days with Jan.”
After spending 10 years learning from some of the best in the eventing world, Aisling recently announced the opening of her own business, Aisling Carroll Eventing and Sales located at Lexander Farm in Midway, Kentucky. Eager to begin teaching and spreading her knowledge with others, Aisling is currently accepting new clients and taking in horses for consignment, training and breaking. She will also be accepting new students for ship-in or off-property lessons.
“I have some exciting young horses currently that are supported by some wonderful people so I’m quite excited for the future,” said Aisling.
